Allright, 

yesterday i had completed my pokemon white game. I have this little box where i keep all of my pokemon games; i have quite a few actually. I found my pokemon silver game, and my gameboy color. I figured i could use some good ol’ nostalgia, so i popped it in and started playing. I started a new game, and picked my name. I had allways gone by “RED”. I picked a squirtle as my starter. I’ve allways been a sucker for water pokemon.  Anyways, let’s just fast forward to when i get my five pokeballs, since nothing of interest happened before that. I had just been taught how to catch pokemon, and i was walking around the tall grass. I ran in to quite a few Rattatas and Pidgeys. However i had no interest in catching any of them, i was just training my Squirtle. I had decided not to name it anything since i just prefer them to have their original names. But that is BESIDES the point. I then ran in to another one. I was expecting another Rattata to pop up, but instead it was something else. I had no idea what it was but it sure as hell wasn’t a pokemon. I can’t really give a decent description of what it looked like though. I’d guess it was dark though, or perhaps ghost type. But i wasn’t really sure. It didn’t happen to have a name, just “???” and it didn’t specify what level or gender it was. It had the same cry as my squirtle, except it was kinda disorted, and also playing at a slightly darker pitch. I’ve played this game a million times, but i’ve never encountered anything like that. I got the first turn. The pokemon died with one single strike. It was definately odd, but i decided not to look too much in to it; It’s only a game, after all.

I walked around surprisingly long without running in to any wild pokemon. But suddenly, a window popped up. “SQUIRTLE has fainted” I stared at my screen for a second. My squirtle’s HP was at 100%. This didn’t make any sense. “RED doesn’t have any more pokemon to battle with. RED blacked out”. I was redirected to the pokemon center. But when i was about to hand over my pokemon, another window popped up. “You don’t have any pokemon!” 

I went to my bag and selected “PKMN”. My squirtle had been replaced with ???.
